“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.” – John Lennon

Born and raised in the Eastern Sierras, I have a love for the mountains and the active small-town lifestyle that comes with it. You can find me on the slopes in the winter and on the trails in the summer! I have been lucky enough to spend most of my twenties traveling, exploring places beyond Mammoth Lakes. I received my bachelor’s degree in Journalism at a university in Nairobi, Kenya – a place I now consider to be my second home. Regardless of my time in Africa, these mountains always seem to call me back. You know what they say, there truly is no place like home!

“Adapt and Adjust” -Family Motto

Growing up by the beaches, heading for a mountain getaway was true excitement. I decided to turn it into a lifestyle. I moved to Mammoth in 2007 and was fortunate enough to meet my husband and our daughter was born there. Mammoth will always be home, regardless of where I reside. We are currently residents in South Lake Tahoe, enjoying everything this mountain town has to offer. Summer, winter, spring, or fall, there’s always a reason to step outside and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

“To me, the mountains are not a place to visit….they are home.”

I live in a magnificent place where beauty, nature, and peace abounds. I arrived at Mammoth Lakes, CA at the age of 15 and thinking about moving elsewhere doesn’t even cross my mind. One of my favorite seasons in Mammoth Lakes is summer. One of the many reasons is because I’m an avid angler and Convict Lake is my all-time go-to for catching the best fish. Not only do I get to enjoy the scenic beauty that the High Sierra Mountains bestows and the outdoor recreation that comes naturally to this astonishing place. I get to work for a family-owned, dedicated, and growing company in the travel and toursim industry; Nomadness Rentals. I am proud to work for Nomadnes and provide guests with the experience to immerse themselves in the mountains and what they may call their second home or a vacation getaway.

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be a value” -Albert Einstein

Moving to the Eastern Sierras after graduating high school was the best decision I’ve ever made. I am so happy to be in a place where I can find something different or new to do every day. I basically grew up in the Eastern Sierras. My family and I have been coming here all my life backpacking and camping so it was destined to be that I move here full time. I’m so grateful to have the people in my life and to share this amazing place with them.

“The mountains are calling and I must go.” – John Muir

My family moved to Bishop when I was two; after graduating high school I couldn’t wait to leave town! After traveling and living in some amazing places, including New Zealand, I returned to town to be closer to family and my beloved Mt. Tom. I enjoy hiking – mostly seeing the wildflowers and exploring the mountains.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing group of people and this amazing company!

“Be the calm in the chaos.”

I rely on the insightful words of my longtime Yoga Master to keep me steady when all you-know-what is breaking loose. When I’m not rendering high-level customer service to our extraordinary Nomadness community of outdoors people, I’m pursuing the next perfect glass of Sangiovese. Or. I’m scouring Rotten Tomatoes for the latest on some newly-minted Indy or documentary film. Life can get pretty rough here in California with 300+ days of sunshine and all – Ha! My dream is a tiny abode in Tuscany where luscious grapes and ripe olives are in my sightline.

“Do something today that your future self will thank you for”

I was born and raised in Hong Kong, a highly dense and populated concrete jungle of a city. Basically, totally not an outdoor boy – my family’s weekend routine consisted of going to multiple shopping malls and eating at hotel buffets. It wasn’t until I moved to California where I was exposed to such beautiful and diverse landscapes where I realized how beautiful and healing nature can really be. I love relaxing on a warm beach, or reading a book poolside in the mountains with a martini in hand. California has spoiled me with its gorgeous beaches, deserts and mountains and I’m never moving out of here!

“It takes nothing away from a human to be kind to an animal” – Joaquin Phoenix

I’ve lived in beautiful Steamboat Springs for 33 years. I have a daughter and many fur babies who bring me joy and companionship. As a dedicated advocate for animal rights and a proud ethical vegan, I am committed to advocating for a more compassionate world for all beings. My love for nature extends to wildflowers and wildlife. I find peace while going for walks along the river and hiking in the mountains. I bring that inspiration into my art through intricate drawings and cross-stitch that I enjoy in my spare time.

“Many people are fine. But some seek something more fulfilling than fine, something greater.” – Cafe at the Edge of the World

I am originally from Colorado where I grew up skiing and developed a deep love for the mountains. I followed that passion to Flagstaff, Arizona, where I earned my bachelor’s degree while teaching skiing at Arizona Snowbowl- a role that deepened my love for sharing the outdoors with others. My journey then lead me around multiple resort towns in the west coast before coming to Mammoth Lakes, California where I continue to embrabce an active, adventure filled lifestyle.

“Fear is a reaction. Courage is a decision.” – Winston Churchill

From a young age, the mountains have been my sanctuary, a constant in a world of change. Whether it’s the majestic peaks of Vail, Colorado, or the lush, rugged terrain of Hawaii, my connection to these natural wonders runs deep. When I’m not immersed in nature, you’ll find me dedicated to both personal and professional growth, fueled by a genuine passion and commitment to making a positive impact within my community and company.

My journey has been profoundly shaped by my father, whose philanthropic work in Vail and esteemed career as a real estate broker left an indelible mark on me. His dedication to making a difference inspired me to pursue a similar path. In 2024, I embraced a new chapter by relocating to Steamboat Springs with my supportive and loving partner. Here, we’ve committed ourselves to community engagement and positive advancements. I am honored to lead as the Business Developer for Nomadness Rentals in both Steamboat Springs and Mammoth, California, where I channel my enthusiasm and expertise into fostering growth and building lasting relationships.

“The best thing about skiing backwards is you can see where you’ve been” -Warren Miller

I call Steamboat my home, here with my fiancé Alex and our German Shepherd Dog Lenny. The mountains are my playground, and you’ll often find me chasing thrills on skis and snowboards in the winter, or tearing up the mountain biking trails when the snow melts away. Beyond the adrenaline rushes, Alex and I are eagerly preparing for a future where we’ll raise our family in this friendly mountain community. Steamboat offers us a unique blend of adventure and serenity, and we couldn’t be more excited about the journey ahead.

Living in Steamboat Springs, I’m surrounded by adventure, mountain biking, paddleboarding the Yampa, and skiing/riding in winter. But the best moments are spent with my family, and three labs. I love the peace I find here, whether it’s the outdoors or the live music that fills the air. Life is good, simple, fulfilling, and full of joy.

“Worrying is like paying a debt you don’t owe.” – Mark Twain

I’m originally from Boston but the prospect of world-class skiing and beautiful hiking trails drew me to Mammoth. I moved out here in December of 2024 and haven’t regretted it once. This journey has opened up the world to me and I’ll be forever grateful. I’ve been able to visit several national parks and can’t wait to see more. I’m always encouraging family and friends to visit and anytime they do, they fall in love. Within just a few days of my parents first visit, they were already joking about buying a place out here because of how beautiful it is. I hope to call Mammoth home for a very long time.

“Get busy living, or get busy dying.” – Morgan Freeman

Living in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, I’ve built my life around blending hands-on problem-solving with technical innovation. As a property maintenance professional, I help keep rental homes running smoothly year-round—whether it’s a frozen pipe in winter or a faulty appliance in summer. Behind the scenes, I’m a cybersecurity-focused systems tinkerer, passionate about stripping Windows machines down to their efficient cores, modifying firmware, testing system security, and exploring open-source manipulation of large language models. I also custom-build networks and servers tailored for performance and control.

Driven by a passion for optimization and a deep curiosity about how things work—and how they break—I aim to merge rugged, real-world reliability with technical precision and cybersecurity best practices. Whether I’m configuring a dev environment, reviving hardware, or laying the foundation for a new business venture, I stay focused on creating systems that are secure, efficient, and built to last.

“Look deep into nature, then you will understand everything better.” – Albert Einstein

I’m Mariah, a wife and mom to two wonderful daughters, ages 8 and 3, who are at the heart of everything I do. Our mountain life fuels my love for the outdoors, whether we’re hiking, camping under the stars, or simply exploring nature together. When I’m not helping guests plan their vacations or working with our lovely homeowners, you’ll find me cooking from scratch, crocheting by the fire, or dreaming up new garden projects. Creativity and learning keep me inspired, and though I enjoy connecting with people, my introverted side treasures the peace of our mountain life.

“You gotta keep on keepin’ on. Life’s a garden: dig it! You gotta make it work for you. That’s my philosophy”  – Joe Dirt

Born and raised in the mountains, I strive to show my family that there is more to life than inside. We love spending our days off roading, 4 wheeling, swimming, or hanging out with friends and family. My backyard will forever be the greatest playground.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change- Wayne Dyer

Having vacationed in Tahoe my entire life, I knew that as an adult I would call this place home one day. Five years ago, I made the move to Tahoe with my Fiancée and never looked back. I grew up water skiing, wakeboarding, snowboarding and hiking so living here now, Tahoe is my ultimate playground. I’ve been in the service industry my entire working life so when I joined Nomadness, I knew I had found a path that was destined for me.

“You can’t expect anybody else to put you on the priority list if you don’t do it for yourself.”

My name is Jessica Avitia, and I’m proud to come from the small town of Bishop, California—where life moves a little slower, the skies are a little wider, and the mountains are always in view. Growing up in the heart of the Eastern Sierras taught me to appreciate the simple things: family, nature, and the strength that comes from community.

I’m a mother of three amazing kids who keep me grounded, inspired, and on my toes. Being a mom has been the most rewarding adventure of all—one that’s helped shape me into the person I am today.

“It’s the adventures we take that turn into the stories we cherish.”

Back in October 2017, I left my hometown in Southern California and made the move up to Mammoth and I’ve never been happier. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. Since then, I’ve met incredible people, experienced the raw beauty of Mammoth, and lived through adventures I’ll never forget. I’m a mom, I have a 10-month-old son and two amazing pups who fill my day with love and energy. My favorite place to be is out on the lake in my kayak, soaking in the peace and magic of the mountains. This journey has truly become one of the greatest stories of my life.

Technology Advisor

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic” – Arthur C. Clarke
We rely on technology to make our lives easier, and the better the technology the less we notice it. As a Technology Advisor I’ve been a regular point of contact to ensure technology decisions enable the direction of the business. I take a deep dive into the technology needs of the company and help integrate the tech strategies into all elements of the operations. Long long time ago, in a converted garage far far away, Millie was looking for a way to make the property rental business an easy process for both clients and owners. Through web sites and servers, apps, services, and every modern technology that is available to us, we kept building a successful enterprise! We would often start with just an idea, that we convert into a plan – and plans become successes! Our latest plan, a dedicated app to make booking and reservation management even more convenient and easy for our customers, is now here! Check it out! It has been exciting to assist a great team with a great visionaire and make those dreams happen!
