The STARS Mountain Challenge is a community celebration to raise funds to allow STARS to offer life-changing programs that promote independence, self-esteem, and a healthy lifestyle for people with disabilities.
STARS (Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports) provides life-changing experiences for participants with cognitive and physical disabilities, autism, injured Veterans, and their families. Through our programs, participants gain self-esteem, independence, camaraderie, resilience, and courage.
Participating in the Challenge is easy! Teams should be a minimum of 4, or up to 8 individuals and can be groups of family members and friends, business colleagues, alumni, Veterans, and neighbors. The event will try to pair each competing team with an Olympian, Paralympian, or VIP elite athlete to complete a series of fun on-mountain challenges.
- Top fundraisers and competitors will win prizes
- An overall team champion trophy will also be awarded
- Best Team Costume with a Neon 80’s 10th Anniversary Theme wins a prize
Event Challenges
Full Mountain Challenge
- Teams remain together throughout the day, skiing/riding with your VIP athlete and STARS staff or volunteer
- Ski/ride each chairlift on the mountain at least once – Visit key landmarks – Earn points
Mini Challenge
- Ride a minimum of 5 lifts
- Earn points for visiting designated areas on the mountain, picture spots and team costumes!
