The Yampa River Festival, hosted by Friends of the Yampa, is returning for its 44th annual celebration, promising to be a memorable tribute to the beloved Yampa River. From May 30 to June 2, 2024, river enthusiasts, community members, and visitors will gather to honor and celebrate the river’s natural beauty, vitality, and importance.
The centerpiece of this year’s festival is the Adam Mayo Memorial Fish Creek Kayak Race, which will take place on Saturday, June 1. This race, held in memory of former board member Adam Mayo, is a heartfelt tribute to his passion for the river and his enduring legacy in the community. Kayakers will navigate the exhilarating course, showcasing their skills and celebrating Adam’s love for the Yampa.
In addition to the kayak race, the Downriver Raft Race will honor the memory of Drew Hyde, another cherished friend of the Yampa community.
